What is Youth and Adolescent Counselling?

Being a youth or teen is really hard, especially these days; the pressures of school, parental expectations, peer and romantic relationship confusion, and the always-present navigation of social media. Too often, adults suffer from “adolescence amnesia” - they forget what it is like to be a teen because they forget what it was like for them at that age. This makes it hard to explore and understand your confusing or overwhelming emotions with your parents, teachers, or other adult supports. But WE don’t suffer from adolescence amnesia - instead, we work hard to remember so we can help YOU through this important, fun, and equally challenging stage of life.

Youth Counselling is designed WITH you. We work together to create goals, establish a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, and ensure you feel fully heard and understood. From there, we may use a variety of therapeutic modalities (like, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or Emotionally-Focused Therapy) to explore your challenges and help you feel empowered to face them.
