Associate & Registered Social Worker and Counsellor

Brittany MacCuspic, RSW

You do not have to walk your journey alone. Healing happens together.

Hailing from a small coastal community in northern Nova Scotia Brittany (she/her) is a queer, trauma-informed registered social worker working in Nakusp, BC. She draws from a variety of compassion-based and somatic practices, utilizing a bottom-up approach to therapy that is strengths-based and forward facing. As a Registered Social Worker, Brittany is dedicated to helping folx overcome their personal and relational challenges. With a combination of educational and lived experience in the field, she has developed a deep understanding of the complexities of human behaviour and the factors that contribute to emotional distress.

Her approach to counselling is client-centred and solution-focused, which means that she prioritizes the individual needs and goals of each person she works with. Brittany prides herself on meeting all clients - regardless of presenting problem, background, or experience- where they are, on the day of the session. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or any other mental health concern, she is here to support you in finding the tools and strategies that will help you achieve greater balance and well-being.

Brittany began her educational journey at Cape Breton University where she studied Sports and Human Kinetics, she has a Massage Therapy diploma, studied at the Canadian College of Osteopathy and has completed her Yoga Teacher Training. Brittany holds a degree in Social Work from The University of British Columbia. As a Social Worker, her ideas and values are rooted in evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based approaches. She is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field and regularly participates in workshops to deepen her knowledge and skills.

Above all, Brittany believes in the power of human connection and the importance of creating a safe, non-judgmental space where her clients can feel safe, seen, heard, and understood. If you are ready to take the first step towards healing and growth, Brittany is here to walk alongside you on your journey.

Brittany joined the Nakusp community in November 2022. She is thrilled to be part of the team at Peach Door Counselling and looks forward to learning more about YOU and how she can help!
